CARMEN JOSEPH "CUTTY" SANSEVERINO

1937 - 2017

Carmen "Cutty" Joseph Sanseverino, 79, of New Haven, passed away at Connecticut Hospice on Friday, May 12, 2017. He was born in New Haven on July 10, 1937 to the late Emilio and Carmella Russo Sanseverino. Carmen was a Graduate of Wilbur Cross, Class of 55'. He played basketball and baseball but really excelled in baseball. In fact, he was offered a position in the Chicago White Sox organization but declined the offer for personal reasons. He did work as a carpenter for many years and also worked as the caretaker for St. Francis Church in New Haven. He was an avid Yankee and New York Football Giants fan and loved Elvis Presley. It didn't matter if he was just listening to his music or watching his many movies. He also enjoyed playing cards and making a good cup of coffee for all his family and friends who came to visit. Besides his countless friends, he is survived by a sister, Angelina (Frank) Carrano of East Haven, his long time companion of 38 years, JoAnne Iannotti of New Haven, as well as many nieces and nephews. The youngest of 12, he was predeceased by six brothers, Steven, Anthony, Joseph, Nicholas, Gregory and Emilio Sanseverino and three sisters, Rose Montana, Annette Jedynack and Louise Moreggi. Funeral will leave the East Haven Memorial Longobardi - Brennan Funeral Home, 425 Main Street, East Haven, 203-467-1708Wednesday morning at 10:30 for a funeral mass at St. Francis Church, Ferry St., New Haven at 11 o'clock.
