Charles Gertsch Obituary

Charles E. "Chuck" Gertsch, Jr.
Charles E. "Chuck" Gertsch, Jr., 84, of Madison passed away on November 15, 2024 at Yale New Haven Hospital. Born in New Haven on January 13, 1940, he was a son of the late Charles E. Gertsch, Sr. and Dorothy M. (Thiede) Gertsch. Chuck is survived by his wife, Ruth A. (Goodrich) Gertsch; his daughter, Debbie Reilly and her husband Frank of East Haven; his son, John Gertsch and his wife Elizabeth of Salisbury, Maryland; two grandchildren, Stephanie Gertsch and Russell Gertsch; sister, Dorothy Schlauch; and brothers, Edward, Paul, and William Gertsch. He was predeceased by his son, James Gertsch. Chuck was a retired truck driver for Stop & Shop Stores, where he worked for over 37 years. He enjoyed watching NASCAR racing and visiting many local racing tracks. Chuck would vacation and travel in his RV with his family whenever possible.
Friends may attend his Graveside Prayer Service with Military Honors on Thursday, November 21, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Beaverdale Memorial Park-Section L, 90 Pine Rock Ave., New Haven.
