Charles Krug

KRUG, CHARLES T. Charles Theodore Krug died on March 11, 2014 at the age of 93 in his home in West Lebanon, NH. Born in Port Washington NY, he grew up in Montclair , NJ and attended Ridgewood High School. He attended Dartmouth College for a semester before enlisting in the Navy to fight in WWII. As a fighter pilot on a carrier in the Pacific, he earned the distinguished flying cross. After the war, he returned to join class of 1949 at Dartmouth, supporting himself by selling sandwiches on campus and mopping the floors at Mary Hitchcock Hospital. Upon graduation, Ted married Shirley Blanchard, moved to Rowayton , CT , and started work as a salesman for Cluett Peabody. After ten years, he moved his family to New Haven , CT to work for Wyatt Inc. becoming an executive Vice President. He became president of the New Haven Junior Achievement Program and the New Haven Country Club.Ted retired in 1991 to Mountain Lake , Lake Wales, FL . An avid golfer, he was a member of the USSGA and the Royal and Ancient Club of St. Andrews. Ted is survived by his wife, two daughters, Susanne Smart of Needham, MA and Betsey Niebuhr of Manitou Springs, CO , six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. The family is holding a private service.
