Daniel Cusano Obituary

CUSANO, DANIEL C. Daniel C. Cusano, 65, of Seymour, peacefully entered into eternal rest on August 31, 2012, in the comfort of his home with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband and soul mate for forty-one years to Elizabeth "Liz" Alicandro Cusano. Daniel was born in Derby on July 21, 1947, son of Stella Amico Alicandro of Seymour and the late Anthony Cusano. A resident of Seymour for thirty-two years, he was employed as a carpenter at Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford for thirty years. A proud veteran, he honorably served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam era aboard the U.S.S. Forrestal. Dan was a true outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, boating, camping, and riding his motorcycle. In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by two sons, Jesse D. Cusano and his wife Jennifer of Naugatuck and Daniel J. Cusano of Seymour, a daughter, Darcey Artsdorf and her husband Arthur of Terryville, a brother, Brian Cusano and his wife Robin of Seymour, a sister, Linda A. Ragozzine and her husband John of Seymour, cherished grandchildren, Haley Grey, Nathan Grey, Paige Cusano, Emma Cusano, Mason Cusano, and several nieces, nephews, and friends. He was predeceased by a brother, Anthony "Corky" Cusano. Visiting hours and a celebration of Dan's life will be held on Wednesday, September 5, 2012, from 4-8 pm in the chapel of the SPINELLI-RICCIUTI FUNERAL HOME, 62 Beaver Street in Ansonia. At 7:00 pm, United States Navy military funeral honors will be accorded. On Thursday September 6, 2012, at 11:00 am, a memorial service will be held at Oasis Church, 176 Sandbank Road, Cheshire, CT with Pastor Dennis Ritchie officiating. Per Dan's wishes, burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dan's memory may be made to the Vietnam Veteran Memorial Fund at www.vvmf.org. I am hoping that my dad passed on my condolences, but in case he didn't... Bet, you are in my thoughts. Danny, you will be missed. I can remember all the years since I was 5 years old that we would go on the CMRA Toy Run. Because me and dad were always late, we would meet at the capitol and have hot cocoa with you and Bette. As we would get into Hartford, I would start looking for you guys. You were so funny and sweet (even if you didnt like to show that side). Most of all though, I wanna thank you for being such a great friend to my daddy. I know he misses yopu so much already. Please watch over him for me. You will be missed.
