DR. DANIEL NAUM

1927 - 2016

NAUM, DR. DANIEL Dr. Daniel Naum, passed away peacefully at Whitney Manor Rehabilitation Center in Hamden, CT on Wednesday June 8th, 2016, at age 89. He was the beloved husband of his devoted wife of 59 years, Mioara Naum and proud father of his late son, Ionut Naum. Born on March 6th, 1927 in Bucharest, Romania, of Armâni parents, he was a man of principle and devotion to his family. Dr. Daniel Naum received his medical degree from Carol Davila Institute of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest, Romania, and practiced pediatric medicine for 19 years in Romania. In 1975 he defected communist Romania, in search for a world where his son and his family could thrive on hard work and devotion. In 1977, Dr. Naum and his family moved to New Haven, CT where he continued to practice medicine for the next 17 years. As a longtime member of St. Dimitrie Romanian Orthodox Church, he was a man of strong faith. As an exemplary member of the American - Romanian community, Dr. Naum was devoted with passion and admiration to his new country, but never ceased to love and praise his native land, Romania. Passionate about history and culture, he traveled all over the world seeking to enrich his knowledge and understanding of the history of civilization. He loved to share his experiences, beliefs, and vast knowledge of history with cherished friends. His presence will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2016, at 12:00 PM at the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield, CT.
