David Banning Obituary

David W. Banning
9/26/2021
David William Banning, 59, of St. Petersburg, FL, Meriden, CT and New Haven CT, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2021 at Bayfront Health with his family by his side.
David was the beloved husband of nearly 26 years to Suzanne (Scalia) Banning. Born in New Haven, CT on June 13, 1962, he was the son of Elizabeth Fredericks of West Haven and Alfred & Patti Banning of Bedford, NH.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by his daughters, Tanya Banning of Wallingford; Christina Robinson (Kevin) of Toccoa, GA; Jacqueline Zikis (John) of East Haven and Candace Banning of East Haven. He is also survived by his sister Judy (Daniel) O'Mara of East Haddam; his brother, Brian (Phyllis) Banning of West Haven, his beloved granddaughter Deanna Robinson, his newborn grandson Patrick Zikis, his treasured cat Layla, as well as his nieces, nephews and many, many friends and extended family.
David was a graduate of Wilbur Cross High School and attended Southern Connecticut State University. He had an uncanny sense of people and was a mentor and friend to those that worked for him, most recently at Advance Auto Parts Distribution Center in Enfield. A fanatic of all things sports, he reveled in perfecting his fantasy football and baseball teams and was most proud of his 821 bowling series, as well as his perfect 300 game. He loved to gamble, was an expert card player and a frequent visitor to both Mohegan Sun & Foxwoods prior to his move to Florida.
Once in Florida, he enjoyed visiting the dog track, horse track and playing cards, pool, shuffleboard and cornhole with his new found Florida friends. A zealous fan of Led Zeppelin, the Rolling Stones and Jeff Beck, he had a mischievous sense of humor, a quick wit and the ability to make everyone smile and laugh.
His family will receive relatives and friends at The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main Street Ext. (www.wallingfordfh.com) on Saturday October 23, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held in the funeral home at 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory may be sent to the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org)
