David and I grew up 1 block apart in Rochester NY. We had amazing parallel paths. He was a year ahead of me at Franklin HS. Neither of us had planned on medicine before college, We wrote to each other regularly in college and discussed our parallel medical school experience afterwards. We often traded friendly taunts. Bouts of laughter were continuous when we were together. We lost touch for many years. I finally found him and stopped by to meet his family when I was returning to Boston, passing near his CT home.
He was a gentle, soft spoken, very private person, whom I and all of our mutual friends respected and enjoyed. You never left an interaction with David Silverstein without nearly continuous smiles interspersed with bouts of mutual laughing. I had never heard him make a critical comment about any individual. He was a wonderful good friend.

I feel like the first time I met David, dad of my best friend Zach, he was wearing a Fish necktie that I thought was really cool. I told him so, and he took it right off and gave it to me.
A funny, generous, original Dad. He and Alicia treated me like family.

He was a living legend-larger than life and hilarious, always keeping the straightest of faces. So many wonderful memories from my childhood include him and the rest of the family-I will treasure them always. He will be missed for sure.

What a privilege to know 'Doc'. I'm going to miss him walking by my window waving and our daily chats.

I remember going to the Silverstein house and having BBQ´s during the summer. Every exchange with David either fed you or made you laugh.
