David Zella Obituary

David P. Zella
David P. Zella, 86, of East Haven passed away peacefully on September 8, 2022 at Smilow Cancer Center in New Haven surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of 65 years to Frances Murray Zella. David was born in Mount Vernon, NY on April 3, 1936 and was the son of the late Nicholas R. Zella and Evelyn Bergamini Zella. He served in the Navy during the Korean War. He worked for Drake's Bakeries as a Manager in New York for many years before retiring to Port St. Lucie, FL.
David was a man of many talents and interests including scuba diving, hunting, fishing, hiking and canoeing. An avid reader all his life, and blessed with a photographic memory, he laughingly referred to himself as a "Human Encyclopedia of Useless Information." David had a great sense of humor and never met a stranger.
Father of Robbin Zella-Boyle, Laura Bloom and the late Kimberly Moline. Grandfather of Aidan Lee Boyle, Steven Albert Bloom (Jenna Sentochnik Bloom), Sean Adam Bloom, Amanda Nicole Grill (Breck Grill), and David Tyler Bloom (Tiffany Dandron). Great-grandfather of Camden, Kennedy, Kerrigan, Cadence Bloom, Avery Dandron Bloom and Hayden Bloom Grill. Father-in-law of Michael Moline and the late Steven R. Bloom and William E. Boyle. Brother of the late Frank Zeoli. Uncle of Lorraine Zeoli Murphy.
The Zella family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at Smilow Cancer Center for the compassionate care they provided during his illness.
Funeral services will be held at a later date. The Iovanne Funeral Home, Inc. is in care of his arrangements. Share a memory and sign David's guest book online at www.iovanne.com

Dear Fran and family,
I am so sad to know of David´s passing. I did not know he was ill.
Last time we met was the time you and David paid us a visit at our home in Sugar Hill, Georgia. That was a number of years ago when you were visiting a relative in Georgia.

Before that we were at the 50th Levittown High School reunion in Melbourne, Fl. Also got together a couple of times when we all lived in Florida.

You and David were fun to be with. I have nice memories of both of you. David was so proud of you and he loved you dearly.

Please know that you and your family are in my prayers.

I do not have your mailing address, but will add my email in case you would like to contact me.

May David rest in peace.
