Donald Sause Obituary

Donald Charles Sause
Donald Charles Sause, 85, of North Haven, passed away on December 11, 2023, at the Sgt. John L. Levitow Veterans Healthcare Center in Rocky Hill. Born in New Haven, son of the late Daniel and Margaret (Schumacher) Sause.
Don was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during the Vietnam War. He owned and operated his own contracting business for over thirty years. He was a member of the Ancient Free and Accepted Masonry for sixty years. He served as a Past Master of Hiram Lodge #1 in New Haven, Past High Priest of Halleck Chapter, Most Puissant Grand Marshal of Royal and Select Masters of CT, and a Charter Member of Menunkatuck Chapter. He founded "Operation Smile" bringing joy to the Masonic Home and Hospital residents in Wallingford. Don enjoyed making award-winning applesauce and jams that competed at various fairs. He was an avid Red Sox fan.
He is survived by a daughter Bonnie Young of Branford; a son Brian of Cheshire; brothers Edward Sause of Westbrook and Kenneth Sause of Wallingford; a sister-in-law Luann Sause of New Haven; grandchildren Anthony Young, Jr., Alexis Young, Quintanilla Johnson, Jr. and Nicholette Osejo and five great-grandchildren. Don was predeceased by daughter Deborah Sause and brother Robert Sause.
Family and friends may call on Friday, December 29th from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. in the Sgt. John L. Levitow Healthcare Center Chapel, 287 West Street, Rocky Hill. A Masonic Service will be held at 10:45 a.m. and a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in the State Veteran Cemetery in Middletown where full military honors will be accorded.
