Dorothy Kurpiewski Swinarski, 96, of Wallingford, CT, died peacefully on July 12, 2025, at The Landing in North Haven, CT with her family by her side. She lived in West Haven, CT for 60 years. She was the wife of the late Anthony Swinarski and was married 61 years prior to his passing in 2016.
Dorothy was born in New Haven, CT on February 5, 1929, to the late Chester and Katherine Gliniany Kurpiewski. In addition to being a mother and homemaker, she worked as an administrative assistant at Bayer Pharmaceuticals for 18 years prior to retiring at age 62. She enjoyed dancing, reading, doing word puzzles, and playing cards with her friends, including a standing date with four of her neighbors every Friday night. This was the highlight of her week, along with spending time with her family.
She was the mother of Kathy (Bruce) Ollodart and Edward (Tracy) Swinarski and proud grandmother of Stephen D'Abundo, Dr. Hunter D'Abundo, Benjamin Ollodart, and Jenna Ollodart. She is survived by many nieces and nephews who are left with fond memories. She was predeceased by sisters Stella Krombel and Emily Rawlick and brothers Frank and Dr. Bill Kurpiewski.
Visiting hours will be Saturday, July 26, 2025, from 9:00-10:30 in the Lupinski Funeral Home, 11 Wooster Place, New Haven. A Catholic service will be held in the funeral home at 10:30, followed by burial in St. Lawrence Cemetery.
