1963 - 2016

STROTHER, EDWARD D., SR. Edward D. Strother Sr. was born on Aug 22, 1963 in Middletown, CT. On Nov. 14, 2016, he made his way to the pearly gates of heaven, reuniting with his late father, Horatio T. Strother, and his late mother Joanne H. Strother. Throughout his entire life, he was greatly passionate about social justice and all human rights. Growing up in New Haven, CT, he attended Wilbur Cross High School and later attended Morgan State University in Maryland. Eddie was a man of great nobility, who valued family principles by a divine relationship with God. Traveling, fishing, camping, and family gatherings were some of the many activities he enjoyed sharing with family and friends. He dedicated 21 years of service to the State of Connecticut as a Corrections Officer and retired at the age of 43. Edward was a loving husband of 29 years to his wife Sandra Strother. He was an amazing father to his 5 children, Steven, Joanne, Chris, Edward Jr., and Jeanine. He also was a great father figure to many family members and children in his community. Grandfather of 4, to Tylon, Karma, Serenity, and Jazzir. Brother to Venise, Cheryl, and Louis. He will be greatly missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, brother, sisters, uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, god children, cousins, and friends. Edward’s celebration of life will be held on Tues. Nov, 22, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Body of Christ Church, 241 Winchester Ave. New Haven, CT 06511. Calling hours 10 a.m. until time of service.
