Elliott Kerzner Obituary
Elliott J. Kerzner, age 86, died peacefully on April 10, 2023, at Delray Medical Center, Florida.
Elliott was born in Brooklyn, NY, the son of Joseph and Ruth Baron Kerzner. He attended school in Waterbury, CT and graduated from Teachers' College of Connecticut (Central CT State University), and the Universities of Bridgeport and Hartford.
Elliott retired from the Hamden School system after working at Dunbar Hill School for many years. He was also the business manager at The Pine Orchard Yacht and Country Club, Director of Facilities at The Culinary Institute of America while it was in New Haven; as well as an adjunct professor at The University of New Haven.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Kovener Kerzner, of 63 years; his children, Richard Kerzner (Jodi Harris) and Robyn Teplitzky (Jeffrey) and his adoring grandchildren; Molly Heller (Garrett), Jake Teplitzky, Alex Payne (Jeff) and Margaret Vieira (Brendan).
As well as his loving brother and sisters-in-law: Bruce and Carol Kerzner, Sheila Kerzner, and Robert and Celia Kerzner. He was predeceased by his younger brother, Michael.
He loved and was loved by his entire extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Funeral services will take place at Congregation B'nai Jacob, 75 Rimmon Road, Woodbridge, CT, on Friday morning, April 14, at 10:00 a.m. The burial will take place at B'nai Jacob Memorial Park, Wintergreen Ave., New Haven, CT. A meal of condolence will follow at the synagogue.
Shiva will be observed Saturday evening from 7- 9 p.m. and Sunday from 11 am – 3 p.m., at 60 Frances Court, Cheshire, CT.
Donations may be made to the Elliott Kerzner PACE Memorial Fund at the Jewish Foundation of Greater New Haven, 360 Amity Rd., Woodbridge, CT 06525. The Robert E. Shure & Son Funeral Home, New Haven is in care of Arrangements.

Shari and I have great memories of Elliott and all his great stories that he would always tell us. Elliott was a great person as well as neighbor who lived upstairs from Shari and I. We miss seeing him and hearing his stories. RIP Elliott

I am so sorry to hear of Elliott's passing. We served on the Hamden Democratic Town Committee and I was chair, but he was my rock. I could always count on him. He was sensible and fair and just a good person. My husband, Henry, and I were just talking about him this past weekend. Sandy, I hope you and your family will cherish the memories you have of him. I will miss knowing that he was "just in FL." Not that far away. Blessings to you and your family.
