DAKIS, EMANUEL “MANNY” Emanuel “Manny” Dakis, 92, of North Branford passed away on Nov. 9, 2014 after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Mary Manos Dakis and was a former resident of Woodbridge. Born in New Haven on Aug. 12, 1922, he was the son of the late Nick and Georgia Dakis. He attended Cornell and UConn and was the owner and operator of Dakis Realty Inc. in West Haven for more than 50 years. He was a member of St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church and the former Oak Lane Country Club. He was an avid poker player who enjoyed spending time with his friends. He served in the US Air Force during World War II and was stationed in Okinawa. The family would like to acknowledge the care provided by Dr. Eric Fan and the attention of the Evergreen Woods Community. Besides his wife, Manny is survived by two daughters, Donna Andonia Dakis of Branford and Nicki Dakis Gallagher of Madison; one sister, Florence Pandajis of Cheshire; five grandchildren, James, Kati & Marcie Gallagher, Michael & Marisa Kaplita. He was predeceased by an infant daughter, Mary Dakis.
Friends may call at The Celentano Funeral Home, 424 Elm St. (cor. Dwight) New Haven Wednesday from 4 to 8 pm and are invited to attend funeral services at St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church, 480 Racebrook Road, Orange Thursday morning at 11:00.
