Ethan Song Obituary

Song, Ethan Miller
Ethan Miller Song died in his hometown Guilford, Connecticut on January 31, 2018 at the age of 15.

Ethan is survived by his parents Michael and Kristin Song, sister Emily and brother Evan. Ethan is survived by Grandparents Albert Song and Ellen Song, Grandfather Victor B. Miller Jr., uncles Victor B. Miller IV and Garrett M. Miller and aunts Cynthia (Miller) Cole, Elena Song and Miran Song. Ethan was predeceased by his Grandmother Oreann C. Miller.

Ethan was born on January 19, 2003 in New Haven, Connecticut to Kristin and Michael Song. He was a Freshman at Guilford High School and was expected to graduate with the Class of 2021.

Ethan was a remarkable young man. Ethan was an accomplished Honor Student and his friends were blessed by his deep intellect, extraordinary sense of humor, infectious personality and compassion. Ethan enjoyed travelling, recently enjoying trips to the Netherlands, London and Mexico. Ethan always enjoyed trips with his family, especially the annual trip to Block Island. Ethan loved the outdoors and enjoyed hikes with his father, skiing and lacrosse. Ethan always enjoyed spending time with his cousins Bennett, Aiden and Samantha Cole, Harrison, Davis and Katherine Miller, Victor and Margaux Miller and Zach and Mica Song. He also enjoyed gourmet food and sushi.

Ethan's ability to calm and win the hearts of dozens of his mom's "foster dogs" earned him the nickname of "The Dog Whisperer". Ethan was a partner in an organization called Unified Sports serving developmentally challenged children in the community. At school Ethan was involved in the Model United Nations. He was involved in Pilgrim Fellowship through the Congregational Church. He was in the early stages of planning a trip to Israel as part of a Birthright Trip.

A wake for Ethan will be held on Sunday February 4, 2018 at the First Congregational Church on the Guilford Green from 3:00pm-7:00pm. Dress for the wake will be casual. A Service of Celebration for the Life of Ethan Miller Song will take place at the First Congregational Church on the Guilford Green at 10:00AM on Monday February 5. A reception will take place immediately after the Service in the Fellowship Hall of the Church. The Reverend Dr. Ginger Brasher-Cunningham and The Reverend Sarah J. Verasco will officiate the Service. All are enthusiastically welcomed to attend the Celebration for the Life of Ethan Miller Song. In lieu of flowers, Michael, Kristin, Emily and Evan ask you to send donations to The Ethan Song Memorial Fund, the proceeds from which will be used solely to create a Foundation in Ethan's name. The Foundation will address issues that were passions for Ethan and Ethan's family – animal rights – human rights – gun education – child safety. "Mike,Kristen,Evan and Emily

Words cannot express how deeply saddened we are of your precious loss.
My daughter Christina has known Ethan since the fifth grade. She sat
next to him in science class this year. She says he made her laugh all the
time. We will continue to keep you all in our prayers.

Mike, Kristen, Evan and Emily,

We were so devastated to hear of the horrific loss of your Ethan. I remember Ethan and your family from when I worked at Melissa Jones School. I was the cafeteria manager and worked with Debbie Bonner. My daughter Brenda was also a good friend of Kristina's who used to babysit for your children. May you find comfort just knowing how many lives your Ethan had touched. He is certainly a beautiful angel in heaven. May you all find the strength you need to carry on. Guilford is one special town with an awesome community. I know it will take a long time but hopefully this community will help make it a little easier.
Many thoughts and prayers are with your entire family. With our deepest sympathy.

We have been deeply saddened by the news about Ethan. My daughter Colleen thought highly of him since the days at Melissa Jones. He attended her birthday party in 4th or 5th grade and I remember his quick smile, bright eyes, and desire to make us laugh. Colleen also remembers him fondly from Mr. Guarnieri's class - she has some funny stories that involve a little gastric bubbling for poor Ethan! He will never be forgotten by our family as we remember him dancing at Colleen's party and making everyone smile. God bless you and Ethan. Our sincerest sympathy, Colleen and Kelley Edwards

We were so sad to hear of this awful tragedy. My daughter, Haley was friends with Ethan since the days of Melissa Jones. She sat next to Ethan in Math this year and will always miss his smile and quick wit. Ethan sounds like an extraordinary child that touched so many lives during his short, but precious time on this earth. He will be missed. Our prayers are with you and your family at this very difficult time.

There are no words to express the loss of a child especially one with such wonderful accomplishments at such young age . Heaven has truly gained an angel . The compassionate friends truly help parents at all stages of the grief process. I have lost a child and my heart truly breaks for the family . My grandson is a student at Guilford High and our thoughts and prayers are with you at this very difficult time.

I remember Ethan from our time together at the North Guilford Congreatinal church. I had the pleasure of being his Sunday school teacher. I will never forget the way his siblings looked out for him. What a wonderful family. I am so sorry for your loss.
