Frank Pagliaro Obituary

PAGLIARO, FRANK C., JR. Frank C. Pagliaro, Jr., age 84, of Shelton, entered into rest on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at the Bishop Wicke Health Care Center in Shelton. He was the devoted husband of Elizabeth (Malec) Pagliaro, and was predeceased by his first wife, Marie (Vaccaro) Pagliaro. Frank was born in Derby on April 5, 1929, son of the late Frank and Mary (Anaclerio) Pagliaro, and was a lifelong Shelton resident. He was a fixture in Shelton civic politics for several decades, and throughout his career with his wisdom, knowledge and understanding he devoted countless hours to community and professional organizations. Frank served as former Vice President of Finance for Griffin Hospital in Derby, and was the owner of Collect Associates in Shelton. He was a longtime member of the Shelton Republican Town Committee and served as Chairman for many years. He was elected Treasurer for the City of Shelton many times during his tenure. Additionally, he served on countless town boards through his career and held the positions of city clerk and registrar of voters. In 1994 he was awarded the John Davis Lodge Award in recognition of his service to the Town Committee and the State of Connecticut. The State of Connecticut declared May 16, 2004 to be Frank C Pagliaro Jr Day. Frank was past President of the Boys and Girls Club of the Lower Naugatuck Valley and was a member of the board of trustees. He was Past President of both the CT Chapter of Health Care Financial Manager Association and the New England Patient Account Manager Association and was a faculty member at the University of New Haven, where he was awarded an honorary Bachelor Degree. Frank was also a longtime member of the Derby/Shelton Rotary, where he received the Paul Harris Fellow, and was a supernumerary policeman. Frank was the beloved father of John Pagliaro and his wife Ann, Robert Pagliaro and his wife Lisa, and the late Frank Pagliaro III and his wife Nancy Pagliaro. He also leaves two cherished grandchildren, Frank and Robert, his stepchildren Fred Anthony and Susan Nyerick, six step-grandchildren, three sisters, Elizabeth Simonetti, Esther Sylvester, and Rosemarie Sheehy, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Pete and Jean Vaccaro, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his first wife and son, he was predeceased by his brother, Joseph A. Pagliaro, Sr.. Friends may greet the family at the Riverview Funeral Home, 390 River Road, Shelton, on Sunday from 1 to 6 PM. On Monday, friends are invited to go directly to St. Margaret Mary Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM. Burial will immediately follow at Riverside Cemetery in Shelton.
