Gina LaVacca, 47, of East Haven passed away suddenly on June 14, 2024 from injuries sustained after being stricken by a car that evening. Gina was born in New York on September 9, 1976, beloved daughter of Frank and Judith Miller LaVacca of Bluffton, SC. Loving sister of Frank LaVacca of Wantagh, LI; Denise LaVacca of Vernon and Nicholas (Kristi) LaVacca of North Branford. Cherished aunt of Gianna, Sage and Savannah LaVacca. Best friend of Lisa Brecciavoli-Momaya. At the time of her death, Gina worked in Field Technology as a Technical Assistant for the Knights of Columbus. Gina loved artwork, music and was an avid NY Knicks and NY Giants fan. She loved her family, animals and hugs. Gina was loved by everyone, everyone loved her and she loved her family more than anything.
Her funeral procession will leave the PORTO FUNERAL HOME, 234 Foxon Rd. (Rte. 80), East Haven SATURDAY morning at 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish in Our Lady of Pompeii Church at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be private. Family and friends may call FRIDAY from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dan Cosgrove Animal Shelter, 749 East Main St., Branford, CT 06405. Condolences to the entire family. I just found out yesterday, I've known Gina since 2005 we kept in touch throughout the years but once I moved to London in 2007 our contact diminished but we always spoke when the knicks giants or mets were in the playoffs or playoff hunt. I'm really sorry for the tragic news but I reached to her on Facebook, instergram or even called her cell but calls and messages weren't returned. I thought it was odd but felt maybe she's taking a break from social media and changed her number which she had more than 20yrs. I met her brothers Thanksgiving 05 they probably won't remember but again my condolences...Gina was a happy soul and when some of our mutual friends back in the city (NYC) of her passing everyone was just as shocked and in disbelief as I am...She will definitely be missed...R.I.P Gina Marie the knicks came up a little short but I hope the Mets pull it off this fall just for you...Love always Chris

To Gina's Family, I will always remember Gina's upbeat personality, smile, laugh and generosity. Although we did not work in the same department, I would hear her on the phone with the agents doing what she did best. She worked on the other side of the department wall from me. Gina reminded me so much of my sister who sadly passed away at 45. They had the same style, big personality and the resemblance was so much there! Prayers to the family and rest peacefully Gina.

Gianni was one of the kindest, loving person I knew! And knowing her family I can say it runs through all of them. We unfortunately went separate ways for a while and I´m devastated over that! My Deepest Condolences to Gina's family. Being with the Knights for nearly 4 decades, every once in a while, I run into that person that I know I can have as to my go to person, when I have an issue. Gina was that person in Field Technology. She was so good and patient when I was having a computer issue. She ALWAYS made sure that the issue was fixed or would get back to me with the fix ASAP. She was such a joy to talk to and so personable. She had a way of explaining things that made sense to a average person working with computers programs.
May perpetual light shine upon her. She will be missed by ALL that knew her.

Every now and again we find someone special to interact with at work.
These days we may never even get to meet them face to face.

Gina´s patient demeanor, professional, technical and interpersonal skills were truly legendary. Her Prescence was larger than life, and that is why I teased her by nicknaming her "The Oracle".

My condolences and sympathies to all of you. I can only imagine how much she will be missed.

While at work, I called her so that she could help me with it a stran

ge computer system problem. There were constant outages on my end, and her end. So during the approximate hour waiting for things to load, she and I just had all sorts of conversations about family, trips, weather, and commiserated on the systems we have, and our respective wish lists for how to improve everything.

She had such a great sense of humor.

Gina was an absolute pleasure to interact with, typically during times of frustration when experiencing tech issues. Her personality and sense of humor was always refreshing and well received. We shared many laughs. She also went above and beyond to resolve issues, even if it carried past the first phone call. She had a true spirit of service. As one of nearly 1,000 Knights of Columbus Agent/Advisors in the U.S. and Canada, I have no doubt there are a 1,000 similar recollections from my peers. Gina's positive impact was felt across most of North America, from British Columbia to Puerto Rico, from Hawaii to Newfoundland. I offer my sincerest condolences to Gina's family and friends. I pray that you all may find peace in your grief. May God envelope you in His Grace.
