Harriet S. Leibowitz
Harriet S. Leibowitz, 83, of Hamden, Connecticut. Devoted wife of the late Martin C. Leibowitz, whom she met on the beach in Woodmont, CT at the age of 14 followed by the happiest of marriages for 62 years, died peacefully on Tuesday, February 8th, 2022. Born in Bronx, New York, she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Goldie Ax. Family was always most important to Harriet, the beloved mother of Steven (Laurel), Kenneth (Sandra), and Richard (Yesenia) Leibowitz. Incredible and proud grandmother to Jennifer (Andrew) Civetti, Brian (Jill) Leibowitz, Matthew (Danielle) Leibowitz, Kaitlyn, Jessica, Alexa, and Andrew Leibowitz. Great-grandmother to Aubrey Civetti. Harriet attended City College of New York and worked as a bookkeeper at the law firm of Gold, Gold, Bernblum, and Greenberg. Harriet was an avid Mahjong player and friend to many. She was a huge New York Yankees and UConn Sports fan.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday morning Feb.10th at 11:00 o'clock at B'nai Jacob Memorial Park, 200 Wintergreen Avenue, New Haven, CT.
Shiva will be observed at 135 Glen Ridge Road, Hamden, CT from 2-6 p.m. on Thursday. The Robert E. Shure & Son Funeral Home, New Haven is in care of Arrangements.
