Howard Fink Obituary
Howard D. Fink, M.D. age 95, of Chicago, IL, formerly of Milford, CT, Howard was a highly respected and beloved pediatrician. He devoted his life to caring for children and teaching pediatric residents. He served as Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics, President of Milford Hospital, and Chairman of the Milford Board of Health. He also volunteered for the Connecticut Special Olympics and participated in several community health organizations. Of his many professional achievements, he considered his appointment to Full Professor of Clinical Medicine, at Yale University School of Medicine, as the pinnacle of his career. Howard's greatest joy was his family. A loving husband, father, and grandfather, he was caring, compassionate, had a wonderful sense of humor, and experienced life to the fullest.
Howard was the beloved husband of the late Marcia Fink, nee Klein; loving father of Andrea (Casey Hoogstraten) Fink, PhD and Susan (partner Stuart Shikiar) Fink Caplan; adored grandfather of Aaron (Jillian Fong) Hoogstraten, Daniel (partner Melanie Aman) Hoogstraten, and Jacob (fiancée Camille Marcon) Caplan; devoted son of the late Frank E. Fink, M.D. and the late Eva Fink; cherished brother of the late Leonard Fink; fond brother-in-law of the late Leonard (late Marcia) Klein; dear companion of Ina Hirsch.
Service Wednesday, 1:30 p.m. CT at The Chapel, 8851 Skokie Blvd, Skokie, IL (at Niles Center Rd.). The service will be livestreamed on Howard's webpage at www.goldmanfuneralgroup.com. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions would be appreciated to the American Friends of Magen David Adom, www.afmda.org. Info: The Goldman Funeral Group (847) 478-1600.

Dr. Fink was my pediatrician back in the 1960´s. Highly competent. Very caring. I still recall his infectious laughter after all these years. May his memory be for a blessing.

Dr.Fink was my and my brother´s pediatric doctor- he was an amazing doctor. I´ve often thought of him, in that, he saved my brother´s life, and my right hand. My brother was prematurely born at 6 months in 1969. My brother is alive and well because of Dr. Fink´s guidance. My right hand in my late teen years was badly burned with 2nd and 3rd degree burns. Instead of having surgery to recover the missing skin, he tried "massaging the surrounding skin, making the skin stretch." It worked. He did a great job. I strangely ran into him at on a business trip when I went to Chicago, maybe 2011 or 2012ish. I approached him as he was in a wheelchair and explained who I am. He was lovely. Dr. Howard Fink truly was a gentleman and scholar. My wife Nancie and I moved in at Brookdale and he was one of the first people we met and became good friends with lot of things to talk about and share having lived a life of service. With his physical problems and all, he was always pleasant, polite, friendly and supportive to all. He will be dearly missed. Our deepest condolences to the entire family, especially Dr. Andrea Fink. may his memories be yours to cherish and build a legacy of love.

I am so sorry for your loss. Dr. Fink as I have known him since I was three years old and through the years of my growing children, he has taken care of them as well as myself in his practice. He has always been so warm, cheerful, and gave reassurance in times of need to my children.
