Isabell Davis

DAVIS, ISABELL GRACE STANLEY BRANFORD - Isabell Stanley Davis, 81, long time resident of Branford and Short Beach died peacefully at The Hearth at Gardenside on Tuesday, January 8, 2013. She was born in New Haven, daughter of the late Mortimer Dewey, II and Grace (Brockett) Stanley. She was the stepdaughter of the late Edward G. Nesbit. She was the beloved wife of the late William B. Davis, who predeceased her on January 22, 2011. Isabell was a dedicated and devoted communicant of Trinity Episcopal Church, Branford. She was also a member of Rainbow and Eastern Star, as well as, The Daughters of the American Revolution. Isabell graduated from East Haven High School, class of 1949, briefly attended Larsen College in Hamden and graduated with an Associate Degree from LaSalle Junior College in Massachusetts in 1951. In 1974 she graduated from Southern CT State University with a Bachelor degree in Elementary Education. She retired as an Administrative Assistant from Yale University. She is survived by her children Cynthia (Frank) Rutigliano, Lisa Davis (Mitchell) Rucinski and grandchildren Nicole and Philip Rutigliano and Christopher and Alexa Rucinski as well as great-grandchildren twins Jack and Maximilian Hillyer and Victoria Hillyer. She is survived by her brother Mortimer D. Stanley, III; sisters-in-law Dorothea (Arthur) Clairess of North Kingstown RI and Carol Davis (John) of Edmonds, WA and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Joyce. Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial service on January19, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, Branford followed by a reception. There are no calling hours. Burial will be at a later date at Center Cemetery, Branford. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in her memory to Trinity Church, 1109 Main Street, Branford, CT 06405.
