James Moore Obituary

James Donovan Moore III
James Donovan Moore III, 77, of Huntington, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, November 1, 2025. He was born in Yonkers, New York, to the late James Donovan Moore Jr. and Dorothy C. Halloran Moore.
James was affectionately known to many as Bear, a nickname given not just due to his size, attitude or presence; but because he was a great and kind man. He graduated from Loyola High School in New York City and Georgetown University. Following his studies, he honorably served his country in the United States Army as a Military Police Officer, Specialist 4th Class from 1970-1972 during the Vietnam War. After his time in the military, he went on to have a distinguished career as a banker in both New York and Connecticut which later evolved into a career in the services industry.
His life was devoted to his daughter Jess. Her educational journey and professional career had taken her on great adventures which became Bear's adventures as well. He would happily share Jess' latest accomplishments and the success of the teams she supported. His world truly revolved around her.
Bear could always be counted on to assist with any project that needed doing. From early days of getting boats ready for the season on Fairfield Beach, helping his friends and family move in and out of houses, to even painting those houses and completing projects that had to get done: he didn't just take charge; he was in charge. The Seven Sins (Fairfield Beach hooligans known for their late night escapades) will deeply miss one of its' founding members. If your cooler was empty, he would help you fill it, if your cooler was full, he would help you empty it.
James was predeceased by his beloved wife, Johanna, and is survived by his daughter, Jessica. He also leaves behind three brothers, Timothy (Susan) Moore, Thomas (Patricia) Moore, and Christopher (Patricia) Moore; two sisters, Dorothy Gasper and Anne (James) Monoxelos; as well as fifteen nieces and nephews and eleven grandnieces and grandnephews, all of whom will deeply miss his humor and presence.
Friends are invited to join us as we celebrate his life on Monday, November 17, 2025, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Gaelic American Club, 74 Beach Road Fairfield, CT. Military honors will be rendered for Bear at 12:00 p.m.
