Janet Galante Obituary
1950 - 2024
Pomfret Center - Janet Ella Galante, 74, of Pomfret, passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2024. She is survived by her husband Richard; her children Seth Galante and Jenn Mathison of Mystic, Carlo and Melynda Galante of Pomfret, Emily Galante of Worcester; her sister, Sue Davey and brother, Arthur Davey; her grandchildren, Giuliana, Liam, Hannah and Lucy along with many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
Jan grew up in West Haven, CT, and after attending UCONN she dedicated her life to her own family, but also countless other families and children through her work at the Dempsey Center and Christ Church. All who knew her could recognize her selflessness and love for others, particularly those less fortunate than she. She sought no acclaim or recognition for her actions so we will end it here, even though we could go on forever.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, October 5th from 4:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. at Gilman Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Church St., Putnam. Funeral services will be held at Christ Church Pomfret, 527 Pomfret St., Pomfret, CT on Sunday, October 6th at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Quinebaug Valley Special Olympics, 2666 State St. Suite 1 Hamden CT 06517. Cannot be with you all in Pomfret but will read a service at home at 2 PM and think of you all...thinking also of your lovely wedding, for which we painted part of Christ Church in West Haven.
