1935 - 2016

GILLETTE, JOAN (LANOUETTE/CUSANO) Joan (Lanouette/Cusano) Gillette passed away at St. Raphael's Hospital on the morning of March 25, 2016. She entered into eternal rest peacefully, surrounded by many of her family members. Joan was born on June 2, 1935 in New Haven, CT. She owned and operated Gillette Auto Body in New Haven for over 50 years. Joan will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her. She was the life of the party with her quick wit and sense of humor. She will always be remembered as a true lady. A genuine and generous person, Joan was always there to help her family and friends. Joan was a lifelong supporter of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and loved all children. She volunteered as a baby cuddler at St. Raphael Hospital for many years. Joan was always on the go, she loved New York, Paris and shopping at her favorite store Nordstrom. Joan is predeceased by her parents Carmela and Edward Lanouette Sr., her nephew Edward Lanouette III and her beautiful granddaughter Raven Anastasia. Joan is survived by her son Ralph (Amanda) Gogliettino of Branford; her daughter Arnee Dodd of St. George UT and the light of her life, her granddaughter Ashley Kate Gogliettino and Christian DelVecchio who was like a grandson to her. Joan is also survived by brothers Edward (Regina) Lanouette, Jr. of North Haven; Donald (JoAnn) Lanouette of Branford; and sister Catherine (Ralph) Colavolpe of Guilford. Nephews Michael (Angel) Lanouette and their children Alexia, Ariana and Michael Jr.; Donald Lanouette Jr and his children Gabriela and Donald III; Kenneth Lanouette; Edward Lanouette IV and Ralph Colavolpe Jr. Joan leaves behind many friends whose lives she touched. Her family would like to thank the wonderful staff at St. Raphael's and Yale Hospitals for everything they did for Joan. Their caring and support are so greatly appreciated.
Visiting hours will be held at IOVANNE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 11 Wooster Place from 4-8 pm. Friday April 1, 2016. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Hamden, Saturday April 2, 2016 at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
