December 15, 1943 - December 12, 2021
John P. Martino, 77, beloved husband of Chau Phan-Thi Martino of West Haven passed away December 12, 2021 in the West Haven Veterans Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Loving father of Sandra (Charles) Santanelli of Naugatuck, John Martino of West Haven and Anthony (Carolyn) Martino of Wilmington, NC. Cherished grandfather of Kate-Lyn and Charles Santanelli, II, Christopher, Andrew and Sarah Martino. Great-grandfather of Charles Santanelli, III. Brother of Theresa Cerillo of Orange and Samuel Martino of Florida. John was born in New Haven on December 15, 1943, a son of the late John and Mildred Carofano Martino. Prior to his retirement he worked for Armstrong Rubber Co. and the Pirelli Tire Co. for many years, having finished his career at Derby Cellular Products. He was a Navy veteran serving in the Vietnam War.
Services will be held in then PORTO FUNERAL HOME, 830 Jones Hill Rd., West Haven Saturday morning at 10:00. Interment with military honors will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery. Friends may call FRIDAY from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project at woundedwarriorproject.org. Sign John's guest book online at www.portofuneralhomes.net

I just learned of John's passing today. I'm so sorry that I did not see this previously and give my condolences to his family.
I worked with John for over 10 years with Armstrong and Pirelli. He was always great to be with whether at work or after work. We spent many weeks travelling and working together on projects in Nashville and Hanford in the factories. Even during the most difficult moments in the factories, John kept his usual sense of humor, and that helped all those around him. He was a real "old school tire guy" and I'm sure he is still cracking jokes today with Ross! God bless you John.
