John Misiasz Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of John P. Misiasz Jr. on October 30, 2025. He was born November 14, 1954, to the late John P. Misiasz and Marie Iannuzzi Misiasz.
John graduated from West Haven High School in 1972 and went on to earn an Associate's degree in Psychology.
He was a dedicated employee of the United States Postal Service, retiring in 2013, after 40 years of service.
John is survived by his sons, John P. Misiasz III and Christopher A. Misiasz and his former spouse, Maria Di Tomasso, all of Montreal, Quebec.
John is also survived by sisters, Laura A. (Charles) Rivellini of Woodbridge, Lisa B. Misiasz of West Haven, Dina M. (Ronald) Ardito of New Haven, Jacqueline J. (Daniel) Landino of West Haven and Patricia A. Misiasz of New Haven, and brother-in-law, Edmond L. Smith of Hudson, FL. He will be greatly missed by his nieces and nephews, Lara Landino, Bryn and Nick Lacey, Daniel Landino and Paige Gambardella. John was predeceased by his sister, Kathryn M. Smith.
John was an avid golfer, sports enthusiast and a lifetime Yankee fan. In his retirement, John could often be found riding his bike or reading at the beach.
His love for his sons, family and faith were paramount in his life. He will always be remembered for his humility, hearty laugh and infectious smile. His kindness and charm were his defining qualities. He was truly always the gentleman. We love you and will miss you forever.
Family and friends are invited to visit the Keenan Funeral Home, 238 Elm St., West Haven, on Tuesday, November 4th, from 8am to 9:30am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am at St. John XXIII Parish /St. Louis Church, 89 Bull Hill Lane, West Haven, with burial to follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery. Rest easy John. Carry on. Ride down to all the best beaches, go play the best golf courses in the world, and maintain the love. To John's children, friends chosen to be family, all of his family, I share your shock and sadness, And will miss seeing him walking up the 18th, always with a small smile, as he was very much in the moment, and golf was his meditation.

I knew John in his early years at NDWH High School '68-'70. I can't remember how it happened but we got picked as escorts for 'frosh-girls' to attend the New Haven Lawn Club's posh-Debutante Ball in one of those years. We rented tuxes and dazzled our dates with good Polish swing waltzes, polkas, and modern moves on the grand 2nd floor dance hall. John, always had a bit of a movie star's shine around him, and ever terrifically funny and astute. God will grant him a swell eternity mixing it up with other angels and saints, I'm sure.
