John A. Vergnetti
John A. Vergnetti, 66, of Hamden, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2025, at Connecticut Hospice, surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted, loving husband to Roberta Olivieri Vergnetti. Born in New Haven on June 22, 1959, John was the son of the late Dominick and Frances Calandrelli Vergnetti. He proudly dedicated 40 years to Sikorsky Aircraft, where he worked as a Final Flight Inspector before retiring earlier this year. John was the beloved father of Gina Paturzo (Anthony) and Elena Flaherty (Johnathan), and the proud, eternally loving grandfather of Charlotte, Madeleine, Giovanni, and Alessio. He is also survived by his brother Joseph Vergnetti, and was predeceased by his brothers Paul, Peter, and Mark Vergnetti. A Master Mason, John was a member of Hiram Lodge and Morning Star Lodge 47 where he and his Brothers contributed to many charities, especially the Shriners Hospital for Children. He loved cooking, gardening and the outdoors. Spending time with his family and especially making cherished memories with his grandchildren was important to him.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, October 16th at 10:00 a.m. in Blessed Michael McGivney Parish at St. Michael Church, 29 Wooster Place in New Haven. There will be no visiting hours. Burial will be private. Kindly omit flowers and make memorial contributions to Shriners Hospital for Children at shrinerschildrens.org.
