Joseph Anastasio Obituary

ANASTASIO, JOSEPH (SANDY) Joseph (Sandy) Anastasio, 94, of Woodbridge, passed away peacefully at his home on March 21, 2013. He is predeceased by his wife, Mary Gene (Priess) Anastasio and two sisters, Marie Dey and Gloria Zyskowski. He is survived by his three children Robert Anastasio of Seymour, Roye Marie Anastasio-Bourke and Carol Sue Anastasio, both of New Haven; sister Joan Kinney of West Haven; five cherished grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Joseph was born in New Haven on February 28, 1919, to the late Andrew and Nancy (Ruggerio) Anastasio. He was a decorated WWII Marine Corps officer, receiving the Purple Heart and was the youngest Lieutenant Colonel to serve in the US Marine Corps at that time. Prior to retirement, he was vice president of International Consumer Products at Uniroyal, formerly the U.S. Rubber Company. Joseph was deeply loved by his family and a cherished friend and mentor to many. The family will gather privately in remembrance, and a public celebration of his life is planned for a later date, to be announced. Roye and Family.
I was thinking about your family around this time of Christmas and found this about Joe, sadly. I know he was cherished by so many and especially his family and for you a strong pillar of your life. What a legacy he left, when a Father is loved by his family as was Joe, that is the greatest tribute one can obtain. God Bless.
