JOSEPH KELLY Obituary

KELLY, JOSEPH F. (JAY) , JR. Joseph F. (Jay) Kelly, Jr., of West Haven, CT, age 42, passed away after a brief illness on May 31, 2016. He was born on February 17, 1974 in New Haven, CT. He is survived by the love of his life, Kristie DeMorro Kelly and was the loving and proud father of Joseph and Katherine Kelly. Devoted son of Maureen Keefe Kelly and the late Joseph F. Kelly, brother of Jennifer Kelly (fiance Rick Sanders) and Christopher Kelly. He was the beloved grandson of Marie Ann and the late Robert A. Keefe and Jennie E. and the late Walter A. Kelly. He is also survived by a host of loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. At the time of his death, Jay was employed as a Conductor on the Metro North Railroad. He previously worked in the family owned and operated construction firm, The Joseph F. Kelly Company, Inc., as Vice President and Project Manager. Jay graduated from Amity Regional High School, where he excelled at hockey and attended Lynn University in Boca Raton, Florida. He loved the sea, boating and fishing and was a USCG Licensed Master Captain. He had served on the City of West Haven Harbor Commission. There will be no calling hours. Family and friends are asked to go directly to Our Lady of Victory Church, 600 Jones Hill Road, West Haven, for a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, June 6, 2016 at 11 a.m. Celebrant will be Jay’s Uncle, the Rev. Daniel G. Keefe. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his memory be made to St. Mary School, 62 Cedar Street, Branford, CT 06405 or the American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Drive, Wallingford, CT 06492. There is not a day that goes by and I don't think of you. You were way too young to leave. All the kids still miss you! We enjoy sharing stories at the picnic table about the fun times. I sit in your chair and know you are happy with your dad. I hope you and Mr. B go fishing together in the skies above. God took you too soon, Jay! We are all so very saddened to hear of Jay's passing. Our hearts go out to you all especially Joseph and Katherine.
Jay was the most beloved human being, kind, considerate, and always had a smile that brought happiness and laughter wherever he went.
