Joseph Nastri Obituary

NASTRI, DR. JOSEPH MICHAEL It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Dr. Joseph Michael Nastri, 82, of West Hartford, on March 24, 2013. Joe was born in New Haven on Nov. 28, 1930. He graduated from West Haven High School in 1949 and from Collegiate Prep School a year later. He graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1954 and from the University of Pennsylvania in 1958 as a doctor of Dental Surgery, where he was inducted into the Matthew Cryer Honor Society, the highest academic honor at Penn Dental Medicine. Dr. Nastri began his practice in West Hartford immediately after graduation and continued his practice until he retired this year. Joe was a founding member of St. Timothy Parish and a member of the West Hartford Lions Club. One of his greatest joys was being a member of the Wampanoag Country Club, where he golfed, played cards and watched his children's and grandchildren's swim meets and made many of his lifelong friendships. Joseph is survived by his wife of 58 years, Agnes; and his four children, Diane Nastri, Joseph Nastri (Paola), Carol Wojkowiak (Richard) and Michael Nastri (Tara); and his four grandchildren, Megan and Madison Nastri, and Joseph and Julie Bouchot. The Nastri family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of St. Francis Hospital for their expert care and compassion. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at The Church of Saint Timothy, 1116 North Main Street, West Hartford, at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27, with a reception immediately following at Angelo's on Main Rockledge, West Hartford. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center. Mike, it has been a very long time. Our mom passed June of 2010, and dad last year March of 2012. I'm sure your dad has the best handicap in heaven. And we can still hear your mom calling out your name for supper, a voice heard all the way to Bishop's Corner no doubt. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

To the Nastri family. I was a patient of Dr. Nastri's for about forty years. Losing him is very painful. He was the salt of the Earth. My appointments very more about a brief connection with this dear man than about my teeth. I hope your memories are a comfort to you as mine are to me.

I am so saddened by the passing of Dr. Nastri. I was a patient of his for 46 years. Never have I met a kinder or gentler man. A man whose dedication to his profession was unsurpassed. What dentist meets you in his office on a Sunday for a dental emergency. I don't know how I am going to get along without him as my dentist. I already miss him.

My deepest sympathy and prayers are with you and your family. God bless you and may you find comfort in your memories.
