Josephine Mordente Obituary
Josephine Mordente, 96, of East Haven passed away peacefully in. her home December 20, 2020. She was the widow of Dr. Giacomo Mordente Jr. Daughter of the late Frank and Josephine Esposito, she was born in New Haven May 16, 1924. She attended the St. Raphael School of Nursing where she became an RN. Josephine was a visiting nurse for many years. Besides her husband she was predeceased by her daughter Kathleen Solli and her son in law Robert King. She is survived by her sons, Giacomo (Linda) Mordente III of Branford, Richard (Carlene) Mordente of West Haven, and Robert (Gloria) Mordente of New Milford; her daughter Josephine King of Miami, her son in law Arne Solli of Cheshire; 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Aedan Church, 112 Fountain St., New Haven Saturday December 26th at 1:00PM. Entombment with her husband in the St. Lawrence Garden Mausoleum will take place the following week. The Celentano Funeral Home, New Haven, is handling her arrangements.

Our family would like to extend our deepest sympathy for your loss. Bob and I are both a bit under the weather and don’t want to take a chance with the pandemic by attending the services. I do want to also mention that we will miss seeing Josephine on our holiday visits to Mariner’s Point. She always enjoyed visiting with the day care children and we enjoyed seeing her. You were blessed to have such a wonderful woman to guide your family to become as close and loving as you are today.

I will always remember "Fina". As a little girl we lived next door to her on Cleveland Rd. My mother and Fina were great friends. I remember as very kind and loving. Rest In Peace.

In the loving memory of a kind, generous, and wonderful daughter, sister, nurse, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend, Josephine Mordente. She made the world a better place with her selfless example, and will be fondly remembered, and missed. I will always hold the memories of her Christmas-eve dinners close to my heart.
