Joshua Barrett, 39, of Route 80, Guilford, devoted husband of Rebekah(Oman) Barrett, died unexpectedly at Yale-New Haven Hospital on Sept. 23, 2018. Joshua was born in Englewood, NJ, July 7, 1979, a son of Dennis & Elaine (Lefkowitz) Barrett of Ringwood, NJ, Adored & Loving Father of Oliver Barrett. Dear Brother of Joel Barrett of Glen Gardner, NJ.
Funeral Services at Robert E. Shure & Son Funeral Home, 543 George St., New Haven, WEDNESDAY afternoon, Sept. 26th at 12:30 o'clock with Interment Services to follow at Alder Brook Cemetery, 355 Boston St., Guilford. Memorial Contributions may be sent to the Guilford Land Trust, P.O. Box 200, Guilford, CT 06437. A Period of Mourning will be observed at the family home, Route 80, Wednesday following the services until 8 p.m. To sign an online registry book or to leave a message of condolence, please visit:

Well two years went by in a flash and no matter what people tell you it does not get easier. Here is a picture of Oliver and his fourth birthday party this August . A lightning McQueen theme and movie night. He has gotten so big and he looks just like you Josh , you would be so damn proud of him. We miss you.

Well here we are today September 23, 2019 and one year has gone by since you passed. It does not get easier with time. We always feel your presence around us and the sadness is overwhelming. Every minute of every hour of every day we miss you . Oliver your son, your beautiful wife Rebekah are doing the very Best that they possibly can to live without you. It has been devastating but we all pray for our hearts to be settled and at peace with this tragedy. Not a moment passes without the memory of you and your humor, knowledge or words of kindness isnt missed. You added so much joy to our family for the brief time god gave you to us and we will forever treasure the time we had with you. God keep you safe . We love you , mo.

I am so saddened. I just found out that Joshua has passed away.
My sincere condolences to his young family. Please know that he loved you all so much and had great love for you Rebekah, as he shared with my husband and myself during times with him at Citzens.

I never met Joshua but I feel that I knew him by the kind and wonderful words of praise of his mother-in-law Elizabeth my niece. My condolences to the family in their moments, hours, and days of grief.

My sweet son in law. You were, in my heart, my son. You added so much to our lives and we will never ever be the same again. Oliver is going to know everything about you. Thank you for the great times and I am so happy we spent the Saturday at the Big E for an entire day having fun. My family is broken and sad , I wish you were here my sweet boy. Bless you . I only knew Josh being a frequent customer at the Citizens bank. He was always pleasant and personable and helpful in anyway he could. I will miss him greatly when I enter that bank and I know many others will feel the same way. RIP Josh you left us way too soon. My deepest sympathy goes out to your family.
