Joy Flink Obituary
April 8, 2025
Joy Flink died at 90 on April 8, 2025 in North Branford, CT. Born in Toppenish, WA, she was married to former Life Magazine correspondent and Yale University professor Stanley Flink for 47 years before his death in 2022.
Previously married to screenwriter Bill Manhoff and film producer David Picker, Joy was perennially active with the performing arts, hosting a weekly radio program in Seattle featuring popular music. After moving to New York, she became the official liaison for Mayor John Lindsay with the film industry. She served on the Board of Trustees for the Long Wharf Theatre in New Haven for nearly twenty years and the Burry Fredrik Foundation as Vice-Chair.
She leaves behind two stepchildren, Steve Flink (and his wife Frances) and Wendy Levey, plus four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Burial will take place at the Grove Street Cemetery in New Haven- date to be determined.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Joy was such a beautiful lady, in so many ways. She and Stan were like movie stars, but so down to earth. They were truly a joy to be around. I did see them often, as they followed my band, The Galvanized Jazz Band, for many years. Our mutual friend, the late Joel Schiavone, brought us together. I remember playing Stan's 90th birthday party at Yale. May she rest in peace.
