Joyce Nuzzi Obituary

Nuzzi, Joyce N.
Joyce Naccarato Nuzzi, 82 of Encino, CA, formerly of Hamden, CT and Honolulu, HI passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 in Los Angeles, CA. Joyce was born in New Haven, CT on February 3, 1936, a daughter of the late Joseph and Lucy Campanelle Naccarato. Joyce is survived by two sons, John N. Nuzzi and his wife Carolyn of Brookfield, CT and David Nuzzi and his life companion Danielle of Encino, one brother, Richard Naccarato of Wallingford, CT, one granddaughter Robin, one great-grandson, one great-aunt Mary Campanelle, and many nieces, nephews and loving friends. She was predeceased by her former husband John L. Nuzzi and one brother, Robert Naccarato. Joyce worked at the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 478 of Hamden for over twenty years. Shortly after her retirement, she moved to Honolulu where she enjoyed the beautiful vistas, aerobics on the beach, and long walks around Diamond Head. While living in Encino, she enjoyed yoga, pilates classes, and going to movies with her circle of close friends. Her church, which she attended every Sunday morning, was a brief walk from her home. Holidays will never be the same without her. She brought such joy with her lasagna, meat balls, and topped off with her ice box cake. Joyce battled numerous health issues in her later years, and handled her health challenges with such dignity, grace and strength, never complaining, always strong, and never giving in. She will always be loved, missed and the time spent with her will be forever cherished.
Joyce's family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, December 5th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. Her funeral procession will leave from the funeral home on Friday, December 6th at 10:15 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church, 321 Circular Ave., Hamden. Burial will follow at Beaverdale Memorial Park, New Haven.

David,,
I worked with Joyce at Operating Engineers many years ago. We became good friends & even went to my beloved Bermuda for a week. I still smile when I remember having to read her the menu when she forgot her glasses. She was one of the kindest people I knew & since moving to Ohio have thought of her often.
After you & your mom moved to HI. she surprised me with a p/c. As the years went by we lost touch but the 2 of you have always remained in my heart. I have no doubt she is among the angels.

To John and David,
I'm sorry to read of your Mom's passing. I was only a very young boy but remember attending your Mom and Dad's wedding. My recollection of her was how beautiful she was. I never saw her again after she left Ct. My condolences to you both. May she rest in peace.
