Judy Ann (Alise) Mateer, 82, of Westbrook, CT, died peacefully on October 31, 2025, in Old Saybrook, CT. Born in Hallstead, PA, she was the only daughter of the late John and Helen (Chamberlin) Alise. She was predeceased by her husband, Paul Mateer, and brother, John Alise, and will be buried in Verbank, NY.
Judy received her Bachelors and Masters in teaching for High School Home Economics after graduating from State University College at Buffalo. A devoted wife and mother she moved to New Milford, CT, in 1972, with her husband and daughter, Allison. She enjoyed using her well known culinary skills when family and friends would come to visit. Her passion for cooking came from her grandfather, Carmine Alisi, who used to call her up to share his Pasta Fagioli. Alongside cooking, Judy enjoyed sewing and knitting, crafting many quilts and afghans. She also spent many hours researching her family history, which went along with her love of watching mystery shows.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Allison and Craig Strzelecki, Westbrook, CT, her grandson, Cole Strzelecki, Westbrook, CT, and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made, in her memory, to the American Heart Association.
