Julie Carangelo Obituary

Julie Carangelo
Julie Carangelo, 95, of Cheshire, a resident of Hamden for many years, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 8th, 2024, at Elim Park Rehabilitation & Health Care Center. She was the loving wife of Pasqual R. Carangelo of Cheshire, to whom she was married for nearly 71 years. Julie was born in New Haven on November 30th, 1928, and was the daughter of the late Michael DiLibero and Mary Corvino DeLibero. She was predeceased by three sisters, Phyllis Mantovani, Antoinette Vollono, and Mafalda (Muffy) Sabatino. Loving mother of three children, Robert, Gary, and Carol Carangelo. Beloved daughters-in-law, Diane Carangelo, Wichuda (Bo) Carangelo, and Nancy J. Di Dia. Loving grandmother to Marea and Michelle Carangelo. Julie graduated from Hillhouse High School in New Haven in 1947. She was an active member of the Hamden Women's Club and New Haven Catholic Women. Julie spent many years working for Hamden Public Schools and was a Teacher's Aide for Shepherd Glen Elementary School for 20 years. Her passions included cooking Italian family meals and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Julie was known for her extraordinary cooking and baking skills. She enjoyed bus trips to NYC, travelling to Sarasota and St. Petersburg, Florida during the winter, and loved summer vacations at her favorite place by the sea, Ogunquit, Maine. Julie demonstrated acts of kindness, love, and generosity throughout her life and as a woman of strong Catholic faith, always recognized and believed in the goodness in other people. Our family would like to thank the Doctors, Nurses, Aides, and other staff of Elim Park Assisted Living and the Rehabilitation & Health Care Center for their continuous support, care, and dedication to our mother's needs. Friends and family members may call on the morning of her funeral, which will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 14th at Sisk Brothers Funeral Home, 3105 Whitney Avenue, Hamden, CT 06518. Funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Hamden at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Centerville Cemetery. For more than 25 years, Julie welcomed me into her family as another daughter, I never felt like an in-law, always family. My love for her is immense and my fondest memories will always be about us cooking Italian dishes together, walking in Ogunquit, Maine by the sea, and having her so interested in my work, my travels and my life. There is indeed a void in my soul without her presence and I will forever cherish our laughs, our cries and our joys. May you rest in peace and know that all is well now! Much Love, As always, Nancy
