June M. Scully
1934 - 2024
June M. (Ardolino) Scully, age 90, of Orange passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on February 23, 2024. Born in New Haven on January 6, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Mary Rose (Castellano) Ardolino. June was predeceased by her husband, Peter McNab Scully. She is survived by her daughter, Kathryn Dudley and her husband Christopher of New Canaan; her sons, Peter S. Scully and his wife Judy of Naples, FL, Robert M. Scully and his wife Christine of Rocky Hill, David J. Scully and his wife Dawn of Woodbury, William T. Scully of Orange, Douglas E. Scully and his wife Claire of Bethany, and James S. Scully of Orange; sister, Dorothy Baldino and her husband John of Northford; and brothers, Capt. G. "Bud" Ardolino, Ret. USMC of South Windsor and Frank Ardolino and his wife Diane of Allen, TX. June also leaves 13 grandchildren, a great-granddaughter, and numerous nieces and nephews. June was a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy, Hamden, and Southern Connecticut State College (now University), where she earned her undergraduate and Master's degrees in English. She was employed by the federal government, first with the Department of the Army and later with the Social Security Administration. June was an exceptional artist who enjoyed taking art classes in and around New Haven. In retirement, she traveled to Taos, New Mexico, Italy, Ireland and the Amazon. She loved the poetry of Emily Dickinson and William Butler Yeats. During her last few years, she especially enjoyed her daily walks on the beach with her son, Jim.
Friends may visit with her family on Friday, March 1st from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Beecher & Bennett Funeral Home, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in June's memory may be made to the Connecticut Humane Society. To send condolences, please see obituary at www.beecherandbennett.com.

Christmas is the time of year that June and I would connect. Sadly, that is not to be this year. We were kindred spirits having a love for art and dogs. It was such a privilege to know her.
