Kevin Callahan Obituary

Kevin P. Callahan
Kevin Patrick Callahan, of Lighthouse Point, FL, and Bretton Woods, NH, formerly of Hamden, CT, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2024, surrounded by his family, at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH.
He was employed for the past thirty-one years at Moran Yacht and Ship in Fort Lauderdale, FL. His job afforded him the opportunity to travel the world, where Kevin was well respected in the marine industry.
Kevin was born March 21, 1957, in New Haven, CT, and was a longtime resident of Hamden before moving to Florida. In his youth, he enjoyed swimming at the High Lane Club, vacationing in Wellfleet on Cape Cod, and learning about all makes of cars. He attended Saint Rita Grammar School and was a parishioner of Saint Rita Church, where he served as an altar boy. Kevin was a member of the Hamden High School class of 1975, where he was active in sports. He went on to graduate from Paul Smith College in upstate New York with a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management. While there, he had the opportunity to work at the 1980 Olympics in Lake Placid, NY. Upon graduation, Kevin worked for several years in the restaurant business in CT and MA. He then traveled to the Virgin Islands, where he worked at Maho Bay on St. John and also on St. Thomas. The opportunity to work with cars brought him back to CT, where he worked in sales for several years at Crest Lincoln Mercury.
Kevin loved being on the water boating and fishing, along with playing golf and skiing in Bretton Woods. He was passionate about youth sports and particularly enjoyed watching his boys play hockey and lacrosse. He rarely missed the opportunity to attend games at Cardinal Gibbons High School in Fort Lauderdale, FL, Cardigan Mountain School in Canaan, NH, and later at Avon Old Farms School in Avon, CT.
He is survived by his former wife, Lisa, and their four sons, Jack, Nolan, Timothy and Peter Callahan. He is also survived by his sister, Nancy (Mike) Johnston and his brothers, Francis III "Skip" (Kate) and Robert (Gretchen) Callahan, and his beloved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father and mother, Francis H. Callahan, Jr. and Eileen Coyle Callahan.
Kevin will be remembered as a kind, generous, spirited, engaging, and loving man who left a lasting impression on all he met. Fair winds and following seas KPC, until we meet again.

We were so saddened to hear of Kevin´s passing . We met Kevin at Bretton Woods Club and to our wonderful surprise discovered we had met previously through our boy´s youth lacrosse teams! We so enjoyed seeing Kevin when he was in residence at his lovely "gingerbread house" and catching up on how our children were navigating adulthood . It was abundantly evident that Kevin was an outstanding person and loving father . Being so connected in the yachting industry, Kevin so generously offered to help our son ( a chef) find a culinary job in the yachting world! How incredibly generous of Kevin. We will always remember our last outing with Kevin atop the gondola at BW with all of our pups ; Kevin´s beautiful Irish Setter running circles around our black lab pup ! Such a perfect day that was! We will miss you , Kevin ! Until we meet again . Love, The Lane Family. Peter, Vicky , Erica, Wes, Courtney & Harrison
