SAVASTANO, LAVINIA G. “VINNIE” Lavinia G. “Vinnie” Savastano, of Branford, died Christmas Day at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. Vinnie was born in Westport, CT, July 4, 1927, daughter of the late Nicholas and Lena Valiente Dorsey. She worked as a local and long distance operator for SNET for nearly 30 years until retiring. Her personality and helpfulness were what customers appreciated most. She was well known for her cooking, generosity and vivaciousness. Her greatest joys were her children and grandchildren. She had a great love of music and dancing. Vinnie is survived by her children, Jay (Diane) Savastano, Ginger (Wayne) Sokolosky, Jeff (Stephanie) Savastano and Robert (Christina) Savastano; grandchildren, Nina (AJ Gagliardi), Eric, Grant, Taylor, and Austin; her brother Louis Dorsey and her sister, Patricia (Larry) Wood. She was predeceased by a sister, Josephine Young. Funeral from the W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main Street, Branford, Monday morning at 10:30 for a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary Church at 11:00. Friends may call Sunday from 4 – 7 PM.
