Leon Welch Obituary
Leon W. Welch Jr., age 96, passed away Thursday, May 17, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Marilyn M. Welch. Leon was born on August 22, 1921 to the late Leon W. and Barbara Kornhaas Welch Sr. Leon was a WWII Veteran serving in the U.S. Coast Guard. After his war career he worked at SNET as an Installation Foreman retiring after 42 years. Leon loved carpentry and could build anything even a sailboat. He loved to travel to the West and visit the Caribbean Islands. He will be sadly missed. Besides his wife of 70 years he is survived by his five children Lynn (Steven) Wheeler of NH, Michael Welch of Orange, Mark (Cheryl) Welch of Milford, Lorie (Michael) Adams of KS, and Holly (Stephen) Walsh of MA, eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister Barbara Welch. Family and friends may visit the Keenan Funeral Home, 238 Elm Street, West Haven Sunday May 20, from 3 p.m. – 6 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Infant Church, 450 Racebrook Road, Orange on Monday, May 21, at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Mount St. Peter, 219 New Haven Avenue, Derby, with full military honors.
