1937 - 2016

SANDACATA, LEONARD (LENNY) Leonard (Lenny) E. Sandacata, 78, passed away on Saturday, December 10, 2016 after a long illness. He was born in New Haven on December 30, 1937 and resided in East Haven until his retirement and moved to Deerfield Beach, FL in 1993. He was predeceased by his wife Cynthia Severino Sandacata and parents, Harry and Cecelia Villani Sandacata. Leonard is survived by his two children, Shari Sandacata of Royal Palm Beach, FL, Michael Sandacata of East Haven, CT, sister, Theresa Shine of Lakewood Ranch, FL, grandchildren, Alexandria and Zachary Parisi of Royal Palm Beach, FL, Cynthia and Christopher Sandacata of Ansonia, CT, companion, Judith Welch of Deerfield Beach, FL and her family. Lenny was a graduate of East Haven High School Class of 1956 and Williams School of banking. After pursuing a career in banking and collections, he became the owner of Statewide Towing and Recovery, which he operated with his son until his retirement. He had a lifelong passion for auto racing and cars. He fulfilled that passion with his children by getting involved with them in Quarter Midget Racing where they traveled the country to many racing events. He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed going to many races. He also enjoyed cooking, trying new restaurants and traveling to Las Vegas. He was a member of Allied Finance Adjusters, Silver City and Little T Quarter Midget Clubs. He was a friend to many and will be greatly missed by his family. Services will be held at the convenience of his family.
