Lewis Scarpa Obituary

SCARPA, LEWIS W., JR. Lewis W. Scarpa, Jr., age 85, longtime resident of Milford and beloved husband to Rose Gosselin Scarpa, passed away on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at Gaylord Hospital. He was born in New Haven, CT on April 2, 1927 and was the son of the late Lewis and Elizabeth Buonocure Scarpa. He was also predeceased by his son, Douglas and sister, Joan. Lewis was a devoted Eucharistic Minister at St. Agnes Church and was on the Abbey of Regina Laudis Committee for many years. He served with pride and honor in the US Navy during WWII as a medical Corpsman 1st Class in Quantico, VA. Lewis was a graduate of Hillhouse HS and Stone Business College. He was an original Planters Peanut salesman, working for RJ Reynolds for over 47 years as a salesman and retired in 1992. Lewis was very civic-minded and was honored to serve on several boards, commissions and building committees for St. Agnes Church and the City of Milford, including the Republican Town Committee, Chamber of Commerce and a three term Republican Alderman for the 4th District. Friends and family may call on Thursday, May 3rd from 10 to 11 am with a Mass of Christian Burial following at 11:00 am at St. Agnes Church, 400 Merwin Ave., Milford, CT 06460. Interment will be private. Arrangements are being handled by the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad St., Milford, CT 06460. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Agnes, Church, 400 Merwin Ave., Milford, CT 06460, the Abbey of Regina Laudis, 73 Crane Hollow Rd., Bethlehem, CT. 06751 or to the Office of Radio/Television, Archdiocese of Hartford, 15 Peach Orchard Rd., Prospect, CT 06712. www.codywhitefuneralservice.com
