Maria Ann Caruso Cioffi, 88, of Branford, formerly of Hamden passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 12th, 2025, at her home. She was the beloved wife of the late Salvatore F. Cioffi, Jr. Maria was born in New Haven on January 29th, 1937, and was the daughter of the late Angelo and Bridget Pascale Caruso. A 1956 graduate of Hillhouse High School, Maria had worked for the SNET Company, was a bookkeeper for her husband's former business Oak Tree Nurseries, she was the co-owner and operator along with her husband of the former Country Gardens of Orange, had worked for the Hamden Answering Service and later as a lunch aide for the Hamden Board of Education until her retirement. Maria also volunteered her time at Yale New Haven Hospital on York Street campus, New Haven. She enjoyed shopping, cooking, baking, crocheting, knitting and canning with her daughter. Maria also enjoyed her trip to Argentina to see her extended family, also going to her home in Clarmont and Orlando, Florida, and summers in Lake George and Wildwood with her family. Loving mother of Ann Marie Julian and her husband Mark, and Lisa Cioffi DeMayo. Sister of Angelina DeDomenico. Also survived by nieces, nephews cousins, and her loving, faithful canines Shango, Kimba and Oscar.
The visiting hours will be Thursday, June 19th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish at St Barnabas Church, 44 Washington Avenue, North Haven on Friday morning, June 20th at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Beaverdale Memorial Park, New Haven. www.northhavenfuneral.com
