MARTIN DEMPSEY Obituary

DEMPSEY, MARTIN H. Mr. Martin H. Dempsey, 86, of CA and formerly of Stratford, CT, died peacefully on Monday, Feb. 8. He is the beloved husband of the late Regina “Jean” McGarry Dempsey. Mr. Dempsey was born in Jersey City, NJ, married on April 14, 1950 and was predeceased by Regina “Jean” on April 10, 2014. They lived in NJ until 1969 when they moved to Stratford, CT, for 22 years and in 1990 they moved to CA. While in CT, Martin was an active member of St. Joseph’s High School P.T.A. He was responsible for the construction of the football concession stand in 1970. he enjoyed acting and singing in plays performed at St. Joseph. He was devoted to his entire family never missing any event. He was employed for 20 years at Olin Corp in New Haven, CT, as a mechanical engineer where he held many patents for the company. Throughout his life, he was a talented painter with oils and acrylics. He loved to make stained glass artwork for his family and friends. He is survived by five children and spouses, Carol and Lester Newman of CA, Martin and Lauren Dempsey of Ansonia, Thomas and Marie Dempsey of Darien, Brian and Sandra Dempsey of Prospect and Sheryl and Michael Kekac of Shelton. One sister, Eileen McCormack of NJ, 10 grandchildren, Scott Newman, martin and his wife Keri Dempsey, Brenton and his wife Allissa Dempsey, Christine Dempsey and her dear friend Patrick, Ryan Dempsey, Kristen Dempsey and her dear friend Anthony, Zachary Kekac and his dear friend Alicia, Keelyn Kekac, Tommy and his wife Dianna Keane, William and his wife Alissa Keane and 5 great-grandchildren, Finnegan Dempsey, Xavier, Parker, Reese and Cole Keane. Calling hours will be held on Monday, Feb. 22 from 5-8 p.m. in the Bennett Funeral Home, 91 N. Cliff St., Ansonia, then on Tuesday his Funeral Procession will leave at 10:30 a.m. to the Church of the Assumption for a mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Juvenile Diabetes Assoc. or Multiple Myeloma Assoc. in care of the funeral home. He will be sadly missed.
