Mary-Ellen O'Connor Obituary
September 2, 1947 - April 28, 2025
Mary-Ellen O'Connor, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to so many, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, April 28, 2025, surrounded by her beloved family. She was 77 years old.
Born on September 2, 1947, in New Haven, CT, Mary-Ellen was the cherished daughter of the late Zoltan "John" and Mary Theresa (Reynolds) Lengyel. She grew up in Hamden, CT, and graduated from Hamden High School.
It was in High School where Mary-Ellen met her one and only soulmate: Richard "Gus" O'Connor. Her high school prom date would later become her beloved and doting husband for nearly 55 years-she was the love of his life. Family and the love and care of children remained the pinnacle of Mary-Ellen's life. She was a loving mother to Meghan Quartarone and her husband Jay of Tewksbury, MA; and a grandmother who cherished every waking moment spent with her grandchildren, Justin and Samantha, who brought her endless joy. As a professional nanny for decades, she was entrusted with rearing other families' children, whom she loved as if they were her own. Mary-Ellen was the dear sister of Patricia Peluso and her husband Joseph, and Patrick Lengyel and his wife, Debby. In addition to her parents, Mary-Ellen is predeceased by her brother, Peter, and his wife Karen. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends too many to count.
Mary-Ellen had a vibrant and energetic personality who was one to strike up a conversation with any kind soul at any time of day. She loved spending time outdoors, mainly poolside, making memories with her family and friends in the company of her beloved and trusted "guard dog", Rocky. Mary-Ellen's legacy is one of love, laughter, and lasting memories. She will be deeply missed by all.
A funeral service will be held to honor her legacy on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael Church in North Andover, MA. For directions or to leave an online condolence, please visit www.cataudellafh.com
