Michael Ferrucci Obituary

Michael J. Ferrucci Jr.
Michael J. Ferrucci Jr., 86, of North Haven, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 11, 2022, at Yale New Haven Hospital/St. Raphael Campus. He was the loving and devoted husband of 60 years to the late Joyce Kushigian Ferrucci. He was born in New Haven on April 11, 1935 and was the son of the late Michael J. and Madeline Fiore Ferrucci Sr. Michael proudly served his country faithfully in the US Marine Corp. He had worked very hard all his life, starting from the bottom, and working his way up to an Executive Director for AFSCME's International Board Council 4 for many years until his retirement. Michael was the vice president of the Connecticut State AFL-CIO. He enjoyed playing the piano, doing crossword puzzles, gardening, and baking. Michael loved every aspect of his life; from the time he was working and especially all the memories with his family whom he loved unconditionally. Loving father of Linda (Robert) LoRicco, Paul (Anna) Ferrucci and Michele (Michael) Salzano. Beloved grandfather of Paul, Joyce, Julie, Lindsay, Lauren, Lucille, Leah, Michael Jr., and Ava. Great grandfather of Natalie, Penelope, and Harrison. Predeceased by his sisters Sara Jane, Concetta and Barbara.
The visiting hours will be on Saturday, Jan. 15th at The Havens Family, North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue from 9:30 to 10:30 AM. A service will be conducted in the funeral home at 10:30 with Rev. Scott Morrow presiding. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. www.northhavenfuneral.com

Very sad to read of Michael's passing. He was my second cousin on my mom's side (DeFelice). His dad was my first cousin. Last time I saw Michael was at the DeFelice reunion in 1994. May he rest in peace.

Mike and I worked very closely during the 1990's when the Connecticut Prison system was experiencing unprecedented violence and gang activity. He was a leading advocate for all Unions and particularly the NP-4 bargaining unit, representing Connecticut Correction Employees. He would often join us during television interviews following riots in the prisons and was instrumental in helping to make the prisons safer through Legislative initiatives and helping to bring media attention to our issues. He will be missed sorly by the thousands of Union Members he helped over the years and I for one will never forget what he did for us. My sincere condolences to his Family.

We were saddened to hear about Mike's passing. We have so many fond memories from all of the many times and events we spent with Mike through AFSCME Council 4. He was a great union man and a great guy. I'll always remember that smile. Mike will be missed by many, and the family has our sincere condolences for your loss.

Dear Paul
My deepest sympathy to you and your family. Words cano describe what your father meant to me. He was truly a mentor to me and others at Council 4. Every Correction Officer in the State of Ct owes so much to your Dad for his relentless work and dedication to their safety and contractual benefits to this day! Rest In Peace Mike!
