MICHAEL MANZI Jr.

MANZI, MICHAEL V. JR, Michael V. Manzi, Jr., of Branford, passed away suddenly on October 7, 2014 at age 69. Born in New Haven, Michael was the devoted son of Michael and Florence (Gagliardi) Manzi. Michael and his brother Thomas Manzi grew up surrounded by a large extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins, all of whom remained an important part of his life. At a very young age, Michael excelled at playing the bass guitar. He was invited to play with numerous bands during his teens and up to his early 20’s before he married and started a family. His passion for live music continued throughout his life and, during his retirement, he started to revisit the bass guitar as a hobby. He also had an affinity for vintage car shows and races which he attended regularly with close friends during his lifetime. Over the last 13 years, Michael experienced a true love of Boston where he made countless trips to visit his daughter Julie. In addition to live sporting events at Fenway Park and the Garden, he loved to experience new restaurants, museums or just simply just walk around historic Charlestown and the North End. Michael was an amazing father and friend to his daughter Julie, a loyal brother to Tom and his wife Kathy, and a loving uncle to Jennifer and her two sons, Logan and Gabriel. He will be deeply missed by everyone who had the benefit of his selfless and kind spirit. Friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial, Friday, 10:30 at Blessed Sacrament Church, Hamden. Interment Private, there are no calling hours. You can honor Michael’s life by making a donation to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in memory of his late niece, Tamara Manzi.
