Michael Strianese Obituary

STRIANESE, MICHAEL R. Michael R. Strianese, 77, beloved husband of Joan-Mary Stempick Strianese of East Haven, passed away February 28, 2014 in Yale New Haven Hospital. Loving father of Mary-Jane (Robert) Lawler of East Haven and Ann-Marie Moscato of West Haven. Cherished grandfather of Christopher Moscato and Megan Lawler. Son of the late Nicholas and Jane Balzano Strianese. Brother of Jane Guercia of North Haven. Also survived by a niece and two nephews. Upon retiring from the former SNET Co., Michael worked as sexton at Our Lady of Pompeii Church. He was extremely active in his church community as a Minister of the Eucharist and as chairman of the annual carnival. He also was a member of the church choir. In his spare time, Michael enjoyed Barbershop music. He directed the Elm City Chorus and was chairman of S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A. Michael was a veteran of the United States Army and will be buried with military honors. He has touched many lives and will be missed by all. His funeral procession will leave the PORTO FUNERAL HOME, 234 Foxon Rd. (Rte 80), East Haven Thursday morning at 8:30. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of Pompeii Church at 9:00. Interment with military honors will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Friends may call WEDNESDAY from 4:00–8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to Our Lady of Pompeii Church, 355 Foxon Rd., East Haven, CT 06513. Sign Mike’s guestbook online at www.portofuneralhomes.net
