Dr. Donna Riter

So deeply sorry to hear of Mitch's passing. I just caught up to my emails today and sorry to see that I missed his service. He was such a delight to know and I enjoyed some very interesting conversations with him at our LSCI conferences. I am shocked by his passing and know he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. My sincere condolences to his family.

Mitch was a caring, considerate colleague with whom I worked at Central Connecticut State University. I valued our friendship and time together and admired the way in which he interacted with his students to provide them tools to work with students with significant behavioral and emotional disabilities.

I was on the wrestling team at MacMurray College. In 1983-1984 season Mac decided not to hire a coach. Dr Beck and Matt Lambert stepped forward and volunteered to lead the team. Without him taking that challenge, we would not have been able to have a team that year. I still have a mental image of him at practice in a starting wrestling pose since he would participate during practice. Still brings a smile to my face! I was honored to know him for that short time. He was a neat man.

Dear Marla,
Lyon and I were saddened to learn of Mitch´s death. We only met him a few times but really enjoyed his warmth and good humor, as well as the obvious fact that the two of you were so in love with each other. As a school social worker, I of course especially appreciated the fact that he taught special education. What a blessing that the two of you were able to enjoy so much travel and good living together, as well as blending your two families into a truly large and beautiful clan. I hope that their support will be a comfort during this most difficult time. Our sincere condolences to you and the family.
Love,
Paula
