March 9, 1939 - August 27, 2025
Dr. Mrinal Kanti Sanyal passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at his home in Guilford. He was the husband of Margaret Jacobson Sanyal of Guilford. He was the father of Shefali Sanyal of Berlin, MA and Joy Shukis of North Reading, MA. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren.
Mrinal was born in India on March 9, 1939, the son of Makhan Lal and Sneha Maitra Sanyal. He was the eldest of 7 children and he is survived by one brother and 3 sisters in India.
Mrinal was a Research Scientist and worked at several American universities, including the University of Wisconsin, Harvard Medical School, the University of North Carolina, and the Yale School of Medicine. Mrinal produced 55 original scientific journal articles expanding knowledge in areas of human reproduction and embryo development. His work contributed to the body of knowledge that led to current IVF programs.
A service will be held on Tuesday, September 2nd, at 9:00 A.M. at the W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main St., Branford, with a private committal service to follow at Evergreen Crematory in New Haven. Please see his online memorial at www.wsclancy.com .
