Nancy Schpero Obituary

Nancy Sue Schpero
Nancy Sue Schpero, of Orange, CT, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2021 in the company of her family after an extraordinarily brave fight with cancer. She was the beloved wife of Warren Chapman and daughter to Edith Schpero and the late Morton Schpero. Nancy was the loving mother of David (Megan) Chapman, Paul Chapman, Martha Chapman, and James Chapman. She was a proud Mimi (grandmother) to Maya Chapman and Luke Chapman.
Nancy is survived by 4 siblings: Dr. Mark (Lynne) Schpero, Dr. Jeffrey (Molly) Schpero, Davida (Steven) Pepe, and Amy (Michael) Greenberg, along with many cherished nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Ann (Burton) Kaplan.
Born in Derby, Connecticut on June 10, 1953, Nancy graduated from Amity Regional High School and then attended George Washington University earning a BA and MA in Early Childhood Education. After raising her family she spent many years as an instructional aide at Race Brook School in Orange.
Nancy's husband and children meant the world to her but her generosity and kindness transcended her family to friends, acquaintances, even people she just had met. Always putting everyone before herself, Nancy was passionate about helping people in any way she could, especially during their times of need. She was always on the move, whether it was running with friends, taking care of household errands, babysitting for many children or mentoring BBYO teenagers. She loved seeing her grandchildren who absolutely adored her and loved the trips to the National Zoo in Washington D.C. every time she visited. All the while she captured just about every moment with her ever-present camera. She will be missed by countless individuals as she touched so many people in so many different ways and was always the brightest light.
Funeral Services at Congregation Or Shalom, 205 Old Grassy Hill Rd., Orange, Friday morning at 10:00 o'clock. Private Interment will follow. The family will begin receiving guests at 9:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to The Orange Foundation, P.O. Box 729, Orange, CT 06477-0729, BBYO Connecticut Valley, 350 Amity Road, Woodbridge, CT 06525 or Lung Cancer Research Foundation at lungcancerresearchfoundation.org. Nancy was an energetic, compassionate woman who always made me feel like a million bucks!!! She could make me smile with her sense of humor or story told and made me feel like I was the sole object of her attention when we talked. She understood so much about people. She will be very much missed.

I was so saddened by the news of Nancy's passing. She was the most lively and energetic person I've ever known. So full of life; it's hard to believe that even cancer could take her. She made such a positive impact on me with her kindness and giving.

Nancy had a passion for life, her children and cooking. My memories of her back when I met her in the early 90's was either of her running her kids to their activities, training for a race and/or having something cooking on the stove. Always offering to send food home with you.  Nancy was always in motion.
I cherish the memories and feel lucky to have known her.

My deepest condolences to Warren, David, Paul, Martha and James along with the rest of her family.
Love,
Phyllis

I have such wonderful memories of the summer Nancy lived with us while working at Curry- she had a vivacious energy and exuded love and caring wherever she went. There was a lightness about her that made everything more fun ... I can still hear her laughter in my mind. I was so sad to hear of her death and I am so very sorry. To Warren, David, Paul, Martha, James, Davida, and all the Chapman/Schpero family. I was deeply saddened by the news. As a teacher at Peck Place School I got to know several members of the family and always enjoyed talking with Nancy. I appreciated particularly that she kept in contact with me by sending a holiday care every year since David was in my fourth grade class. With deep sympathy to all of you, Meryl Menon

Dear Warren, David, Paul, Martha and James, We will always cherish all of our family times together, especially the many Christmases spent here at our home when all the kids were young. Lara, Holly and Brian loved Aunt Nancy. They knew as soon as she arrived, the fun would begin. They loved baking cookies and making gingerbread houses together. Nancy made sure there were plenty of decorations to choose from ...candy, frosting and sprinkles everywhere... for days. Four adults and 7 kids in one house was a little crazy at times with wall to wall cousins in sleeping bags in the living room, but we all loved every moment and never wanted the fun end.
The service today was a beautiful tribute to Nancy. She was a beautiful soul and had a kind and giving heart. But we knew that from the first time we met her so many years ago.
We will miss her. You are all in our thoughts, prayers and hearts. We love you.

Dear Warren, David, Paul, Martha, James and family. I will always remember Aunt Nancy as the energetic, quick talking, bubbly, happy, person wrapped up in a small body that she was. She was always thinking about others. She never missed a birthday, I ways got a card. Even when Abi was born she sent things for her. I will cherish the little keepsakes she got her.
The Vaz family (who live across the street from us) express their condolences. Fabia and her daughter, Jen shared fond memories of Nancy randomly going over and asking Fabia if she wanted to go get something to eat, and asking Jen out for a run when staying at our house. They are simply neighbors of family, but she took the time to get to know them. Because they mean something to us, they meant something to her. That was Aunt Nancy.
I will miss her deeply. I love you all very much.
Love, Lara

To Nancy´s beloved family,
I am heartbroken to hear of Nancy´s passing and am deeply sorry for your loss. Our family was so blessed to meet Nancy.at Racebrook School 12 years ago and then get lucky to have her again a couple of years later. She was sweet, caring and a dynamo of energy. Perfect as a 1st grade aide to welcome, nurture and set the standard high for 6 years of superior elementary education. A foundation was set for a path of success and we will always be grateful. I was fortunate to work beside Nancy on many occasions as a parent volunteer. We got much accomplished and smiled and laughed while doing so. We kept in touch over the ladt 12 years and she would always update me on her children and grandchildren. We exchanged holiday cards when we got to it - lol. She loved her family fiercly. Always smiling and always kind we were so blessed to have had Nancy welcome both of my girls to RBS in 1st grade. Rest in eternal peace Nancy, you will be missed.

To all of the family,
Nancy had a way of lighting up the room with her smile, that laugh and her overall warmth. The Schpero clan is my second family and although I´d go years without visiting CT, I´d see Nancy and it would feel so great. Nancy had a huge heart and such a loving and fun spirit And she was so incredibly proud of her children and their many accomplishments. My heart goes out to all of you during this terrible time. May Nancy Rest In Peace and be without pain.
Love and prayers to you all,

I will cherish The many favorite memories of Nancy. We used to text a lot. Sharing many stories about life as we knew it when we were our kids age. I showed her how to delete the texts that sounded like we were crazy. We laughed a lot when Nancy was with us. She was caring person that never stopped. She was so full of energy. My grandson Jack, only age three now was one of Nancy´s little one that she watched. He loved her. And he told her many times. "I love you Nene" I will pray for Nancy and Family. Martha is the only one I knew but I have seen many photos of everyone. Loved her so much.
