Neil Lillo Obituary

Neil Ernest Lillo, Sr.
Neil Ernest Lillo, Sr., 92, of North Haven, CT, died peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family, on Thursday, December 19, 2024. He was the beloved husband of sixty-six years to Angelina (Salemme) Lillo. Neil was born in New Haven, CT on March 12, 1932, a son of the late Ernest Thomas and Josephine (Citerella) Lillo and had resided in North Haven for the past forty-one years. Neil was a television repairman, who owned and operated the former Murphy's TV, Inc. of New Haven for twenty-seven years. He later worked as an electrician for the U.S. Postal Service, New Haven, for twelve years, retiring in 1996. Neil lived for his family-his wife, children, granddaughter, and great-grandson. He was attentive to their every need. We are so grateful that he had the opportunity to enjoy his great-grandson, Colton. He was well-read as well as a car and history buff. He was kind and loving to all animals, domestic and wild, however, above all, he was a master of fixing things. Neil's mechanical knowledge and inventive use of common items earned him the nickname "MacGyver." He was always the go-to person with any problem, big or small. Neil was the truest of patriots. He served our country with pride and honor with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. His love for our nation was unparalleled. He was known and admired by all generations. Whether you knew him by Neil, Dad, Sonny, or Pop, everyone loved him. He was kind, helpful, and very generous-and he had a great sense of humor too! He was truly a memorable and legendary man, and he will be missed by all.
In addition to his wife, Angelina, Neil is survived by a daughter, Denise Lillo Vecchio (Dr. Michael Dusa) of Wallingford, a son, Neil Ernest Lillo, Jr. of Clearwater, FL, a sister, Rose DelGiudice (Felix) of East Haven, one granddaughter, Alessandra Vecchio Magnotti (Ryan), and one great-grandson, Colton Ryan Magnotti of North Branford. He was predeceased by his brother, Ernest Lillo.
Neil's family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, December 26th, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. His funeral cortege will depart the funeral home on Friday, December 27th, at 10:30 a.m. for a graveside service with military honors at 11:00 a.m. at Northford Cemetery. www.washingtonmemorialfh.com

My condolences to Neil´s family. I met Neil at the post office. He was a calm and quiet guy who was very knowledgeable about many things. The nickname MacGyver fits him to a tee. I wish Neal´s family all the love and strength you need to get through this difficult time. Rest in peace Neil.

I am so sorry to hear about Neil`s passing. I do remember him from the US Postal Service. He was a really good guy. I started my postal career in 1967 and retired in 2009. As a Mail Handler. He was very easy to get along with. I remember a few times while working on one of the tie out machines. He came walking down the aisle with the tool bag over his shoulder.
He had a look on his face like, "I got this." Seeing his picture,
brought back so many good memories. May he rest in peace.
